About this tour

Everything is private, with your own vehicle and licensed guide throughout.

Itinerary: 3 days

Marrakech to Dades Valley

Collected from your riad in the morning, you climb over the High Atlas on the Tizi n'Tichka pass, stop at the Ait Ben Haddou kasbah and roll into the rose country of the Dades Valley for dinner and overnight.

Todra Gorge, Erfoud & Merzouga

The 300-metre walls of the Todra Gorge, fossil country around Erfoud, then on to Merzouga for a dusk camel ride into the Erg Chebbi dunes and the night in a Berber camp.

Sunrise over the dunes, back to Marrakech

Wake for sunrise, leave the desert after breakfast and head home through Rissani and the palm-lined Draa Valley, crossing the Atlas to reach Marrakech in the evening.

Desert camps & seasons

Two ways to camp and a window of best seasons under this stretch of sky.

Camp type. Choose the authentic Berber camp with traditional tents and mattresses on the sand, or a fixed comfort camp with real beds, private bathrooms and hot showers. Both are within walking distance of the Erg Chebbi dunes and include dinner and breakfast round the fire.

Best seasons. October to April is ideal, with warm days and clear cool nights. Summer is manageable with an early start: we'll point you to the best dates for your trip.
