About this tour
Morocco’s south and centre in one loop: the red city of Marrakech, the adobe lanes of Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate’s studios, the Dades and Todgha gorges, two days at the golden Merzouga dunes with a camel crossing and a night by the fire, then back through the lush Draa Valley and the ramparts of Taroudant to the Atlantic. Entirely private, ending where it began.
Itinerary: 6 days
Agadir to Marrakech
Over the Atlas through Berber villages into Marrakech, a stroll through the old medina and an afternoon at Jemaa el-Fna before a night in a riad.
Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate & the Dades
The UNESCO adobe kasbah of Ait Ben Haddou, Ouarzazate’s film studios and Taourirt Kasbah, then the surreal rock country of the Dades Valley for a night at the foot of the mountains.
Todgha Gorges to Merzouga
The towering cliff walls of the Todgha Gorges, then the landscape opens to golden dunes as you reach Merzouga, welcomed with mint tea and a night beneath the stars with drums and bonfires.
Exploring the Merzouga desert
Dawn over the dunes and a camel crossing to meet nomadic tribes, with sandboarding or pure desert silence on offer, then a blazing sunset and campfire beneath the Milky Way. Camp night.
The Draa Valley & Ouarzazate
Pre-dawn sunrise over the dunes, then through the Draa Valley’s oases, canyons and ancient kasbahs back to Ouarzazate to revisit film locations or browse the souks. Hotel night.
Ouarzazate to Agadir via Taroudant
Toward the coast through mountains, valleys and Berber villages, stopping at kasbahs and roadside fruit stalls, then past the walls of Taroudant to the Atlantic and Agadir.
